Description
The Secche di Vada are located off the Tuscan coast near Rosignano Marittimo and are famous for the light turquoise color of the sea, reminiscent of tropical waters. This effect is due to the white sand of the shallow seabed, which makes the water especially clear.
The area is much loved by tourists and snorkeling enthusiasts for its beautiful marine landscape and the presence of posidonia meadows, a refuge for many species. However, it is also an environmentally sensitive zone due to its proximity to the industrial area of Rosignano.
In addition to its natural value, the Secche have held historical importance for navigation, as the shallow waters have long posed a hazard for vessels.
